The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia has developed draft veterinary rules for the keeping of horses, which are now open for discussion. The rules, expected to be enforced from March 1, 2024, will apply to horses kept in personal subsidiary farms, large and small enterprises, and organizations. The aim is to regulate reproduction, rearing, sale, and use of horses while preventing the spread of diseases to other animals and humans. The rules cover conditions for keeping horses, quarantine measures, disease prevention, and diagnostic studies. They will be in effect until March 1, 2030.
