Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the exports of most fruits sold by Hortifruti and Cepea in Brazil have seen positive growth from January to August 2020. However, papaya exports have seen a decrease due to restricted international flights and higher freight costs, although they are now starting to recover. The number of fruit imports, on the other hand, has decreased. This trend is expected to continue in the second half of the year, driven by the appeal of these healthy products and the highest offer in producing regions. However, the increase in the value of the dollar and the focus on the foreign market have led to increased shipments of melons and watermelons, with significant revenue and volume increases compared to the previous year.
