Prices for hot peppers in Northern Tajikistan have surged due to increased supply from Uzbekistan farmers, capitalizing on the opportunity to sell at a higher price of 30 somoni ($ 2.65) per kg. The price hike is attributed to the completion of the 2020 harvest in Tajikistan, lack of storage facilities, and a shortage in the local market. The price of hot pepper in Tajikistan's markets is currently five times higher than last year, with demand driven by the belief that hot peppers can boost immunity.
