The Institute for the Promotion of Beef (IPCVA) was established at the beginning of this century by law of Congress with the aim of promoting the benefits of the product in international markets, although in recent years it has also dedicated much of its efforts to the training of producers and to the promotion in the local market, where it competes strongly with chicken meat and, in second place, with pork. The law that created it establishes that contributions from producers and slaughterhouses are mandatory (per animal slaughtered) and this year it has a budget of around 12 million dollars. This means just over 1 dollar per animal that goes to the slaughter, estimating that the slaughterhouses will process around 14 million cattle. In Argentina, the contribution is only for the cattle processed and there is no economic support from the State, which does not happen in other competing countries that also have their own institutes for the promotion of beef and other species.
