Since 1997, October 15th has been celebrated as the International Day of Rural Women, with the aim of recognizing their key role and function in tasks such as promoting agricultural development, improving food security, and eradicating rural poverty. The story of missionary Cristina Silva, a member of the small cheese cooperative Sarandí, located on the outskirts of El Soberbio, is for Bichos de Campo a living proof of what is commemorated on this date. Raised in the rural heart of that town, Silva found a way to always stay in touch with the rural producers in the area.
