In 2023, Hungarian farmers faced challenges with canola plantings, as some fields suffered poor development. Beekeepers reported medium honey yield from the rapeseed, but acacia flower freezing and unpredictable nectar formation posed problems. Despite these challenges, sunflower plantings were successful, offering hope for honey production. However, honey prices dropped, and the demand for queen bees and bee colonies decreased due to reduced honey sales. The Hungarian National Beekeeping Program has increased support for beehives to offset the decreased income of beekeepers.
