Hungary's raspberry cultivation has seen a significant decline over the past three decades, leading to the country becoming a net importer. The decrease is attributed to six key reasons: climate change, lack of a modern irrigation system, loss of manual labor, globalization, disappearance of coordinating organizations, and outdated knowledge of producers. However, there is optimism for the future of raspberry cultivation in Hungary with the adoption of modern technology and practices, such as foil houses, advanced cultivation equipment, and biological control methods. These measures could improve fruit quality, reduce the need for chemical plant protection, and extend the sales season. Additionally, there is demand from domestic consumers willing to pay higher prices for fresh raspberries.
