Hungary is one of the leading truffle exporters in Europe, with an annual collection of 4-6 tons of summer truffles. The yield of truffles is weather-dependent and varies from year to year. The country provides ideal conditions for truffle cultivation, offering high-income, sustainable farming opportunities. Truffles are most commonly found in certain regions, and the Hungarian Truffle Association is working towards EU protection for the Jászság summer truffle. Last year, the association won the HÍR trademark for a special truffle product grown in Hungary. The ministry is encouraging the truffle industry to submit an EU application for protection of sand truffles.
