The article reports on a recent inspection at the Gürpınar Fisheries Market in Beylikdüzü, Istanbul, which took place from September 1 to September 6, following the start of the fishing season. The inspection, conducted by various authorities including the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry Fisheries and Fisheries Branch Directorate, resulted in the seizure of approximately 7 tons of small horse mackerel. These fish were confiscated for being caught in violation of size restrictions. Five individuals were penalized a total of 24,000 TL for their role in the illegal fishing and transportation of the small-sized fish. The seized fish were ultimately donated to a social welfare institution.
