Iberian pork prices at historic highs

Prices for Iberian pigs are at historic highs at the Salamanca Agricultural Market, both for animals for fattening and for those for field fattening. Current prices are at their highest levels since the beginning of February 2014 and 18.2% higher than the same week last year at this market. In the case of the Extremadura Agricultural Market, prices for field fattening pigs are also at historic highs. Compared to last year, they are 17.4% higher. In both cases, the main reason for these price levels is that the supply of animals is still lower than the demand that exists in the market at the moment, so new increases are not ruled out.
