According to the latest figures from DGZ, 195 IBR carriers have already been detected in 20 farms since the beginning of 2026 through purchase research. These figures underscore the ongoing risk associated with the supply of animals, reports DGZ in its newsletter. DGZ calls on livestock farmers to adhere to strict biosecurity measures and isolation, especially when purchasing animals. Since the end of March, two new cases of IBR infection have been confirmed in West Flanders. This involves a mixed farm in Zande, where the infection was detected via an annual monitoring test. Additionally, there was an infection in a dairy farm in Moorslede, where the contamination came to light through purchase and trade investigations. These new cases demonstrate that the virus is still actively circulating, despite the efforts within the control program.
