The National Service for Agro-Health and Animal Protection of Peru (Senasa) has successfully set up 29 production sites for watermelons and pumpkins in Ica, following a work plan set by SAG Chile. These sites will now be authorized for export to Chile's southern market, as SAG Chile has verified compliance with necessary sanitary and phytosanitary regulations. This partnership aims to benefit producers in the Ica Valley, Moquegua, and Tacna regions by authorizing production sites for the export of cucurbits. In 2021, Peru experienced significant growth in cucurbit agro-export, reaching 36,587 tons to various international markets.
