In the first eight months of 2024, Spain experienced a slight decline in wine exports, with a decrease of 3.1% in volume and 0.1% in value, despite being the world's leading wine exporter in volume and the third in value. ICEX Spain Export and Investment, led by María Naranjo, is focusing on markets like South Korea, Japan, Poland, Ireland, Denmark, and the Dominican Republic to diversify and increase the value of Spanish wine exports. The conference also highlighted the need for digitalization, consumer trend identification, and quality-price ratio consideration in the wine industry. José Luis Benítez from the Spanish Wine Federation stressed the importance of regulatory adaptability to cater to market demands and underscored the sector's sustainability aspects, even though it is primarily export-driven.
