Flavio Innocenzi has been appointed as the representative of Origin Italia on the Executive Committee of Origin Europa, an association representing over 250 Geographical Indications (GI) groups in Europe. This appointment aligns with the introduction of a new EU Regulation on Geographical Indications, which will be implemented by May. Italy, a key player in the GI sector with 890 certified DOP IGP TSG products generating 20.34 billion euros, underscores the country's significant contribution to the European GI market. The recent assembly of Origin EU reaffirmed Charles Deparis as president and expanded its Executive Committee with members from various European countries, highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts among GI organizations to navigate future challenges and opportunities within the sector.
