The government of Donald Trump published a program on cattle farming which included the increase of the quota for the importation of Argentine beef, which will be increased fourfold and will reach 80,000 tons annually. Currently, Argentina has an annual tariff quota of "boneless, fresh, chilled or frozen" beef of 20,000 tons, according to official information from the Ministry of Economy. The Trump administration published a plan to incentivize cattle farming and increase the national production of beef, while separately raising the quota for imports of Argentine meat products. The package of measures, presented on the website of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), includes decisions to facilitate ranchers in grazing cattle on federal lands, increase insurance subsidies, and reduce costs for small processors.
