Scientists in the Volgograd region are proposing to replace imported soybeans with locally grown chickpeas and amaranth in the production of meat and dairy products. The proposal aims to reduce production costs, expand capabilities, and increase the potential of the domestic agro-industrial complex. In 2021, Russia imported over 2.2 million tons of soybeans, primarily from Brazil and Paraguay. The new technologies could allow Russia to refuse imports and expand its production capabilities. This initiative aligns with Russian President Vladimir Putin's instructions for 2022 to mitigate the impact of external effects on the country's food market and increase its own food production.
