(Agraria.pe) Between January and May of 2025, Peru's imports of fertilizers totaled US$ 302 million, reflecting a contraction of -1.2% compared to the US$ 306 million reported in the same period of the previous year. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), which noted that in the first five months of the current year, Peru imported 11% less fertilizer in volume. It detailed that between January and May of 2025, the main fertilizers imported by the country were: urea, which accounted for 18.87% of the total value, diammonium phosphate with 18.21%, mineral fertilizers with 10.93%, ammonium sulfate with 9.93%, potassium sulfate with 9.27%, and ammonium nitrate with 5.30%. In the analyzed period of the current year, the import of urea reached US$ 57 million for 163,000 tons, showing a drop of -15% in value and -23% in volume, compared to the US$ 67 million and 211,000 tons reported in similar months of 2024.
