Indonesia relies heavily on imported garlic, with 95% of its garlic needs coming from abroad and only 5% from domestic production. The country's dependence on imports has led to high market prices when supplies are low. Currently, all of Indonesia's garlic imports are from China, but the country faces competition from other countries also importing from China. Garlic prices in Indonesia have been increasing, with the average price per kilogram ranging from IDR 32,000-38,000 nationally. However, there are price disparities across provinces. Despite these challenges, experts remain optimistic that Indonesia may be able to produce garlic independently in the future.
