The Korea Duck Association has raised concerns regarding a significant increase in imports of heat-treated frozen duck meat from China, which has risen by approximately 30% to 10,378 tons last year. This increase is due to a shortage of domestic duck meat supply in Korea caused by highly pathogenic avian influenza and quarantine measures. The association is urging consumers to check the country of origin of smoked duck and has requested the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service to strengthen control of the origin of heat-treated duck meat products from China. They are also promoting the consumption of domestic duck meat, which is currently recovering in supply and is safely produced.
