Brazilian imports of onions registered an advance in March, but climatic factors in Argentina — the main supplier of the product to Brazil — may modify the supply scenario in the short term. There is an expectation of changes in the supply flow, with a possible expansion of Chilean participation in the national market. According to a survey by the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea), Brazil imported just over 23 thousand tons of onions in March. The volume represents an increase of 22.5% compared to the same period last year. Despite the growth, the total is still considered relatively low.
