As of May 22, 2.8 million hectares have been surveyed in Kazakhstan, of which 498,000 hectares are infested with locust pests and subject to treatment. Protective measures have been carried out in 14 regions across an area of 464,000 hectares. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, treatment against Moroccan locust is almost complete in the Turkestan region, with final clearance ongoing. In the Zhambyl region, main treatments have been completed, with protective measures against Italian locust continuing. Chemical treatments against Italian locust are also being conducted in Akmola, Aktobe, Almaty, Atyrau, East Kazakhstan, West Kazakhstan, Karaganda, Kostanay, Kyzylorda regions, as well as Abay, Zhetysu, and Ulytan.
