In 2020, Russia saw a significant increase in agricultural exports to Spain, with a 78% rise to 465 thousand tons valued at $102 million. This increase was largely driven by a 91% rise in beet pulp exports, which increased in volume to 190 thousand tons and were worth $30 million. Spain now ranks as the third largest buyer of Russian beet pulp. Other exports that saw an increase include leguminous crops, molasses, and sunflower and rapeseed meal. Despite a decrease in fish and seafood exports in volume, the value increased by 11%. The potential for Russian exports to Spain is estimated to be 200-300 million dollars, with dried legumes, frozen fish and fish fillets, meal and cake, residues from starch and sugar beet production, and sunflower and rapeseed oils identified as potential areas for growth.
