A report by the Fruit Branch of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Foodstuffs, Native Animals and Animals, has highlighted a significant increase in China's fruit import and export activities in 2021. The country's fruit imports hit a record high of €11.8 billion, up by 30.9% year-on-year, with durian, cherries, bananas, mangosteen, longan, kiwi, grapes, and pitaya being the top eight fresh fruits in terms of import value. Thailand emerged as the largest supplier of durians, while Chile led the supply of cherries. However, the pandemic impacted export activities, leading to a decrease in both value and quantity. The export value dropped by 14.9% year-on-year to €4.7 billion, and the quantity fell by 8.3% to 3.5 million tons.
