In 2021, farmers charged more for cow's milk than in previous years in Spain

Deliveries of raw cow's milk to industries reached 7.477 million tons last year in Spain, according to data published by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA). This figure represents an increase of 0.9% compared to the previous year. The price paid to farmers has risen compared to previous years but, even so, it remains below production costs. In December it reached a weighted average of 0.364 euros/litre, compared to the 0.340 euros with which the year 2020 closed. However, it still does not reach the 0.40 euros that, according to the agricultural organizations, would allow producers to cover their production costs, which have been particularly high for a few months.
