In 2022, China's fruit market saw an 8% increase in fruit imports, reaching a total of $14.6 billion with a volume of 7.33 million tons, while fruit exports decreased by 15% to $4.6 billion with a volume of 3.26 million tons. The top five imported fruits were bananas, young coconuts, durians, dragon fruits, and longans, with durians being the highest at $4.03 billion despite a 4% decrease. Banana imports also increased by 12%, mainly from the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Ecuador. Young coconut imports surged by 26%, primarily from Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam. However, fruit exports experienced a decline, with apples, grapes, citrus, pears, and grapefruits seeing a decrease in both volume and value. The import and export dynamics of various fruits were impacted by the ongoing epidemic and trade fluctuations.
