Consumption of salads in Russia is projected to grow by 5-7% in 2023, according to Tamara Reshetnikova, with soft leaf lettuces having an annual production of 20-25 thousand tons in closed ground and 50 thousand tons in open ground. Commercial production of salads in open ground during summer reaches 60%, while indoor production accounts for 40%. The market for lettuce and greens in Russia is expected to continue growing until 2030, with imports mainly from China, Egypt, and Turkey. Domestically, large companies are increasing production volumes and investing in sorting and packaging facilities. Ecosalat plans to invest 1 billion rubles in a facility by 2027 for processing, storing, and packaging open ground vegetables and herbs, with a capacity of 10 thousand tons per year.
