In 2025, Cambodia's banana exports generated approximately $180 million in revenue.

Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries spokesperson Ken Phearng pointed out that thanks to the sustained high demand in the international market, Cambodia's fresh banana exports have steadily expanded. The total export volume for the year 2025 reached 344,000 tons, marking a significant increase of approximately 30% compared to the same period last year. Ken Phearng noted that Cambodian bananas, owing to their excellent quality, are increasingly favored in international competition, achieving double-digit growth in export value and further increasing market share. According to the head of a relevant export trading company, in order to cope with the surge in international orders, enterprises have entered a high-intensity operational mode. China remains the largest export destination for Cambodian bananas, while the Japanese market also shows strong potential. Due to the ample foreign orders, the supply in the local market is currently relatively limited. As of now, the total planting area of fresh bananas in Cambodia has expanded to approximately 16,000 hectares, with about 5,000 hectares in the harvestable stage. These are mainly distributed in Ratanakiri Province, Kratie Province, Stung Treng Province, Kompong Thom Province, Kampot Province, and Preah Sihanouk Province. With the further release of planting areas and the improvement of agricultural technology, it is expected that the Cambodian banana industry will continue to maintain a growth trend, making a greater contribution to the national rural economy and export diversification.
