Wholesale prices of pears from local Ukrainian farms have dropped by 25% this week, offering large wholesale for UAH 15-30/kg ($0.36-0.73/kg), due to a seasonal surge in supply and stagnant demand. This price decrease, which started in mid-August, is attributed to increased production resulting from milder weather conditions, with the Vinnytsia region being the exception due to spring frost and hail. Despite these market conditions, Ukraine continues to sell pears at the most affordable prices in the project monitoring region, reflecting a growing interest among Ukrainian gardeners to cultivate pears.
