In eight months, Mexico has already produced more than one million tons of pork

During the first eight months of 2021, the Mexican swine industry produced a total of 1.09 million tons of pork, which represented a 3.1% increase over the records corresponding to the same period in 2020. According to the Agricultural Markets Advisory Group (GCMA), this increase in processing was caused by higher slaughter weights compared to the previous year. The advisory body detailed that the value of this production reached a total amount of 2,073 million dollars, which increased 53%, making the comparison for the period from January to August 2020. The report highlighted the increase in the price of live pigs, which was an average of 38 pesos per kilo, 35.7% higher than that recorded in the same period of the previous year.
