The European Union harvested a total of 55.3 million tonnes of potatoes last year, with Germany contributing the most with 21% of the harvest. However, the area sown with potatoes in Germany has halved in the last 20 years, leading to a 25% decrease in production. Other significant contributors include Poland, France, and the Netherlands, while Hungary's production is in the 0-5% range. Many countries produce more potatoes than Hungary, with Finland, Portugal, Ireland, Greece, and Lithuania producing the most in the EU.
