Shinan County confirmed the occurrence of pine wilt disease in Song-san-ri, Jaeum-myeon, San 65, on the 17th. Together with related agencies, including the Korea Forest Service, they have held an emergency strategy meeting and are making all-out efforts for prevention and monitoring to prevent the spread. Shinan County had previously experienced pine wilt disease in 2002 and 2017, but through consistent control and monitoring activities, both times it transitioned to a clean area. Until recently, it had been a clean area along with Mokpo City among the 22 cities and counties in Jeollanam-do. Pine wilt disease blocks the nutrient and water pathways of pine trees, rapidly killing infected trees, and has spread widely within Jeollanam-do, causing damage.
