The cattle slaughter in January was low. Producers requested authorization from Senasa to send a total of 1,065 million cattle to the slaughterhouses, an amount that is 9% lower than January 2025 and in line with what has been happening since August of last year. Since then, the cattle slaughter has fallen by 9% every month. Taking as a reference the average weight of the cattle, which in 2025 was 231 kilos, the Argentine beef production in January would have reached 246,000 tons. From that volume, 66,000 tons certified for export by the sanitary agency must be subtracted. In these conditions, the internal consumption was left with 180,000 tons of bone-in beef, which represented an average consumption per capita of 46.5 kilos.
