Living in the Yarımcahan neighborhood of Battalgazi district, Muzaffer Akçin turned to a new pursuit after entering the retirement process in 2017. Akçin conducted a trial planting with 30 kilograms of bulbs from Safranbolu on a three-dönüm area, and after four years, with high yields, decided to expand production. Entering the ninth year of production, Akçin said they sell saffron by the gram for 600 TL, while saffron bulbs are sold for 1,700 to 2,500 TL per kilogram, depending on their size.
