In May 2024, Kazakhstan set a record for its highest monthly import of cereals, flakes, and wheat flour in the past three seasons, with over 12.5 thousand tons of cereals and flakes and 8.1 thousand tons of wheat flour. Over 99% of these imports were sourced from Russia, marking a significant increase from April and representing the highest monthly flour imports since November 2023. From July 2023 to May 2024, Kazakhstan's imports of cereals, flakes, and wheat flour increased by 65% and 4 times respectively compared to the previous season, with Russia being the primary supplier for both periods.
