The Colombian Mercantile Exchange (Ipabmc) reported an 0.83% increase in the Agricultural Price Index in May, leading to a 16.85% rise so far this year and 20.18% in the past year. The increase is attributed to supply issues due to mobility restrictions and higher household food spending. Fruits and tubers were the main contributors to the index's growth, while prices for palm products, pork, and imported corn fell. The trend of increasing prices for agro-inputs and imported goods due to currency devaluation and the impact of the coronavirus continues to drive the index's upward trend since 2019.
