Poland has seen a significant increase in pumpkin cultivation, with the area growing from 1,100 hectares in 2014 to 8,900 hectares in 2022, according to Eurostat. This has resulted in a rise in domestic pumpkin harvest from 48,000 tons to 400,000 tons. In 2022, Poland accounted for nearly 40% of the total pumpkin crop in the EU. The surge in production is due to increasing consumer demand and the crop's low growing requirements. Poland cultivates about 30 pumpkin varieties, as per the National Register of Varieties of 2023.
