The Agroexport Association in Primorye, Russia, has planted five hectares of organically grown pumpkins, with plans to export them to Japan. The pumpkins are grown in land that has not been treated with mineral fertilizers or chemical plant protection products for the past 20 years. The region is negotiating contractual obligations with Japanese partners for the export. A competition for young vegetable growers has been initiated, with the addition of Japanese pumpkin cultivation. The state program of the Primorsky Territory aims to increase agricultural production and labor productivity.
