The Russian Ministry of Agriculture expects a significant increase in the production of melons and gourds in 2021, projecting a growth of 20.8% compared to 2020. This would result in a production volume of 700 thousand tons, up from 579.4 thousand tons in the previous year. The rise in production is attributed to higher yield rates, expansion in cultivated areas, and advanced cultivation techniques adopted by farmers. Sowing areas for melons and gourds have also seen a 3.2% increase compared to last year, covering 45.5 thousand hectares.
