In September of the 2025-2026 marketing year, Ukraine exported a record monthly volume of rapeseed oil – almost 109 thousand tons, which is 4.5 times higher than the August figure. This was reported by economist Viktor Halasyuk.
Of this, 92 thousand tons or 85% of the total exports were shipped to the EU countries. This is a record for this geographical direction. Prior to that, in July-August, the main volume of rapeseed oil was exported to the EU by Kenya. Meanwhile, Ukraine continued to ship unprocessed rapeseed.
He explained that the leadership in the export of rapeseed oil was achieved thanks to the 10% duty. According to him, the idea worked. In essence, the duty became a tax on the export of unprocessed agricultural raw materials. After its introduction, more agricultural producers began to sell seeds on the domestic market: loading processing plants in Ukraine, increasing the volumes of domestic processing.
"Consider, Kenya realized that it is better to make oil than just selling seeds abroad. And we had major public discussions..."
