Based on market feedback, UCN's latest assessment shows that the average price for FCA Oslo head-on gutted (HOG) 4-5kg salmon is NOK 78.5/kg, a decrease of NOK 3.5/kg from the previous week; the price for 6-7kg salmon is NOK 77.5/kg, a decrease of NOK 2/kg.
Fearnley Securities, citing official Norwegian data, shows that the total biomass of Norwegian salmon at the end of October was 892,000 tons (live weight), a decrease of 0.4% from the same period last year. The number of live fish decreased by 5.8% year-on-year (with a total of 459 million fish by the end of the month), but the average weight per fish increased by 5.7% to 1.9 kilograms. The Norwegian salmon harvest in October reached 178,000 tons (whole fish equivalent), a year-on-year increase of 0.6%, with an average weight increase of 6.3% to 4.6kg.
In the U.S. market, the price of Norwegian salmon increased in the 47th week, with Trim-D fillets rising by $0.20/lb.
In the 48th week, the price of Scottish salmon remained the same as the previous week, with 5-6kg fillets priced at £7.20/kg and 6-7kg fillets at £7.40/kg.
