According to customs statistics, in the first four months of this year, the Tianjin port imported 64,000 tons of milk powder, a year-on-year increase of 53.6%; valued at 1.73 billion yuan, a growth of 61.2%; with an import average price of 26.9 yuan per kilogram, an increase of 5%.
Private enterprises and foreign-invested companies both demonstrated import enthusiasm. They imported 44,000 and 17,000 tons respectively, increasing by 77.2% and 40%, collectively accounting for 95.3% of Tianjin port's milk powder imports during the same period.
New Zealand was the primary import source. Imports from New Zealand reached 58,000 tons, an increase of 71.2%, with its share rising 9.3 percentage points to 90.3% compared to the same period last year.
