The Orenburg Region's Ministry of Agriculture is planning to increase the sowing of alternative crops like flax, safflower, and sorghum to 155.0 thousand hectares in 2022. The ministry is also emphasizing the importance of using crop varieties and hybrids that are best suited to the local climate. The region has already purchased 27.3 thousand tons of mineral fertilizers for the 2022 harvest. From September 1, 2023, a new Federal Law "On Seed Production" will be enforced, creating a Federal State Information System to oversee seed production. The system will track various aspects of seed production, storage, and sale. The seed availability for spring sowing in 2022 is currently at 96% of the required amount.
