The advisor of Myanmar's Pulses, Corn, and Sesame Trade Association, U Soe Win, stated that due to the current low export volume of sesame, they are consulting with trade partner countries to increase domestic planting yields and explore new markets. In the previous fiscal year, Myanmar exported approximately 74,000 tons of various sesame types, generating export earnings of $114 million.
China is Myanmar's largest sesame export market, and the country also exports to Thailand, South Korea, Japan, and Singapore. The FOB (Free on Board) prices for various sesame varieties range from around $1,150 per ton to approximately $2,590 per ton, depending on the type.
