Chemicals are not needed, but watering must be mandatory," said biologist and breeder Heinrich Straton. Heinrich Stratton calls long-term storage one of the advantages of kiwifruit. If the fruits are hard enough, they can be stored in an earthen cellar, where apples and potatoes are usually stored. "In order for the fruits to be tasty, they should be kept in a warm place for two or three days so that they ripen," he says.
