The average wholesale price for potatoes in Uzbekistan has increased by 12.5% in the past two weeks, reaching its highest value since July at 4,500 sum/kg ($0.40). Despite this increase, prices are still 10% lower than last year. Uzbekistan produced 2,649.0 thousand tons of potatoes from January to September 2022, a 6.6% increase from the same period last year. Imports of marketable potatoes also increased by 2.8% to 328.7 thousand tons during the same period. Uzbekistan is expected to import approximately 123-125 thousand tons of marketable potatoes in October and November 2022, with a zero VAT regime for imports and sales of potatoes remaining in place until the end of the year.
