Prices for cucumbers in Ukraine have once again jumped this week. The main reason for the price increase is the seasonal reduction in supply in the absence of competition from imports and high demand. Analysts from the EastFruit project noted that the cucumber season in Ukrainian greenhouses is coming to an end. Although the quality of cucumbers has significantly decreased, the selling prices are still rising. Indeed, since the beginning of the week, the price of this vegetable has increased by an average of 21%. Now cucumbers are selling for 90-110 UAH/kg (2.16-2.63 USD/kg), depending on the quality and volume of the batches. It is worth noting that the cost of greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine is already on average 11% higher than a year earlier. Experts believe that the current situation may lead to importers starting to bring cucumbers from Turkey next week, which could halt the price increase.
