In Ukraine, only cheap but low-quality onions remain

In Ukraine, a decrease in onion prices is being recorded, despite seasonal inventory reduction, as the pricing dynamics are influenced by consumer complaints about product quality and reduced purchase volumes. East-Fruit reports. Today, Ukrainian farmers are offering onions at a price of 16 – 26 UAH/kg, whereas just last week the minimum cost did not drop below 18 UAH/kg. Over the week, wholesale prices in the segment have decreased by an average of 12%. Currently, onions in Ukraine cost approximately 12% cheaper than during the same period last year. Market participants remain quite pessimistic: product quality in storage continues to deteriorate, and demand remains low. Buyers are increasingly expressing dissatisfaction with product quality and reducing purchase volumes.
