This year, Ukraine will harvest a larger grain crop than last year, with the largest volumes coming from corn. This was reported by Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture Taras Vysotskyi. The forecast for grain production this year stands at around 59 million tons, compared to 56 million tons harvested last year. Harvesting for the two early groups, wheat and barley, is already complete. These have yields similar to last year's – 22 to 22.5 million tons for wheat and 5.3 million tons for barley. This is more than enough for domestic consumption. Corn harvesting will be the largest, at around 30 million tons. Corn harvesting is ongoing. This year, the late spring led to a late start, along with a rainy September and October. The main corn harvest is still ahead.
