The hundred-year-old forests of Bukovina have been decided to be protected by the Cabinet of Ministers, granting them a special conservation status.

The Cabinet of Ministers approved a change in the intended purpose of state lands in the Vyzhnytsia District of Chernivtsi Oblast. This was reported by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine. Forestry land plots will transition to the category of nature reserve lands, which will strengthen their environmental protection status. The Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, Svitlana Hrynchuk, reported that these lands will be transferred to permanent use by the Cheremosh National Nature Park - to preserve the most remote and untouched territories in Ukraine. It is here that age-old forests with rich biodiversity have been preserved, where brown bears, lynxes, roe deer, wolves, and wild boars live. Rare global flora species also grow here, such as the Carpathian Chorniantka.
