Heavy rainfall in Tungipara upazila of Gopalganj, Bangladesh, has caused around Tk 1 crore worth of damage to vegetable crops, affecting around 1000 farmers. The Department of Agriculture Extension has reported that 350 hectares of land, cultivated with various vegetables, has been submerged, leading to root rot and yellowing of leaves. The farmers are facing challenges in repaying loans and are seeking free fertilizer, seeds, and cash incentives from the government to recover from the losses. The upazila agriculture officer has requested the Agriculture Ministry to provide compensation and support to the affected farmers.
